The $1 billion Faraday Future factory in North Las Vegas is more than just a rumor. AECOM, an internationally recognized infrastructure firm announced today that it has signed a contract to build the 3,000,000 square foot factory. The company has already begun clearing the land for the project, grading the site, relocating utility towers, and erecting fencing around the site.
“A revolutionary approach to transportation requires an unprecedented manufacturing facility, and AECOM is thrilled to be working with Faraday Future to help make its vision real in Nevada,’’ said Michael S. Burke, AECOM chairman and chief executive officer. “Our involvement taps our extensive automotive industry experience and our integrated approach to delivering challenging projects quickly.’’
Total cost of AECOM’s part of the project is expected to be $500 million reports Business Wire. Sustainability will be an important factor in the completed factory. The exterior will welcome workers and visitors alike with lots of structural glass, a fountain, and dark sky compliant outdoor lighting. The purpose of these external architectural features is to connect the factory visually to the surrounding landscape.
Inside, the Faraday Future factory will feature the use of energy efficient oils, elevator systems, and lighting. Prismatic skylights will will bring daylight onto the factory floor. Like the Tesla Gigafactory, the roof will be covered with solar panels mounted over a cool roof Energy-Star coating. Energy efficient heating and cooling systems will also be used throughout the building.
“Working in collaboration with AECOM, we were extremely impressed with how quickly they aligned with our company’s vision of manufacturing in North Las Vegas,” said Dag Reckhorn, Vice President of Global Manufacturing, Faraday Future. “We are proud to be working with AECOM as partners in this project, and their expertise will serve as an invaluable resource to FF as we bring our facility online in the future.”
Visitors will be welcome at the completed production facility, which will have elevated viewing platforms so customers can watch their cars being built from a safe vantage point.
AECOM says its core mission is to deliver a better world. The company says, “We design, build, finance, and operate infrastructure assets for governments, businesses, and organizations in more than 150 countries.
